Fayetteville & Cumberland County are home to Fort Bragg, the world’s largest military installation by population, as well as the U.S. Army’s Special Operations Command and Airborne Units with over 57,000 soldiers.
In collaboration with Ft. Bragg, Fayetteville & Cumberland County created local opportunities while amassing over 1.3 billion dollars in prime federal contracts, extending support to 7,000 soldiers transitioning into the workforce each year, and welcoming the over 80,000 veterans and military spouses that call Fayetteville & Cumberland County home.
The community has a young and well-educated workforce with a median age of 30 years old, and was recently recognized as the “Most Innovative City in the Country.”
Internationally, Fayetteville & Cumberland County attracted foreign direct investment from countries across the globe due to its talented and cost-effective workforce, growing innovation, and strategic geographic location. The city has also cultivated a diverse community with more than eighty-two (82) Native languages spoken by residents who enjoy its international festivals and business establishments.
Fayetteville & Cumberland County’s commitment to furthering military ties, economic development, and international engagement prompted the creation of GSCX providing a collaborative forum to connect with similar SOF communities and expand local and global opportunities.
GSCX originated in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA by the Fayetteville Cumberland County Economic Development Corporation (FCEDC). FCEDC is a 501c6 public-private partnership located in the heart of Downtown Fayetteville. Designed to enhance job growth and prosperity across our community, FCEDC focuses on attracting new industry and expanding existing industry.
